We loaded the pickup to the rafters (???), grabbed the cat, and headed for Washington state. It was a challenge to figure out what to take. The decision process I finally used was to look through every drawer, cupboard, and closet to see if there was anything I couldn't live without! The kitchen was the greatest challenge. What would we need? Which things would be multi-purpose? Cosmo Place's kitchen space was certainly limited, so everything had to be necessary and could be used several different ways.
So far, the only things I wish I had brought are some plastic bowls for popcorn, mixing, nuking, etc. I did bring corning ware casserole dishes and two pyrex pie plates, which have all been very useful! The latest "new" use of the pie plates was for popcorn while we sat out on the back deck last night.
Driving with Smokey, the cat, added a new layer of complexity to what had been a pretty easy trip. Part of the time she sat in her lovely new bed, perched on the console. See the picture at the left! Our favorite hotel in Redding, CA, did not take pets, so we had to smuggle the poor thing in and out of the room, along with the litter box and food. Smokey was totally freaked out and spent the night under the bed. The second night we stayed in Tumwater, WA, just south of Tacoma. This cute little hotel was just a short walk away from the Tunwater Falls Restaurant, overlooking the falls. Come to find out, this is the southern most point of Puget Sound!
We arrived at the boat on Friday and filled up many dock carts to take our stuff to the boat. It's such a small world...the marina guard who helped us haul all of our things to the boat was originally from Visalia! He was born at Kaweah Delta Hospital, although had lived in the Northwest for many years. Yep, it's a small world!
